Mohammad-Eghbal Nayebzehi

He embodies decades of injustice and discrimination against the Baluch ethnic minority in Iran. He was 16 years old when he was shot dead in the streets of Zahedan in the Balouchestan region of Iran.

Balouchestan is in southeast Iran. It has a dry climate A region that is rich in minerals and ripe for farming inhabited by hard-working people who can make any industry thrive. But the whole region is being kept intentionally poor. In some areas of Balouchestan, people have to walk for kilometres to get water. And a proper school is merely a dream for many kids in that region.

Mohammad-Eghbal had worked as a construction worker since the age of 9. Since the age of 9! He had no education, not even an official ID card which is common for many Balouch citizens. The Islamic regime does not give them ID cards or even birth certificates, so they are automatically denied many legal rights. And that was just one of many discrimination that Mohammad-Eghbal faced in his short and difficult life. Instead of enjoying his childhood, he had to carry the burden of poverty on his small shoulders. But the agents of the Islamic Regime in Iran could not even tolerate that. He was killed by bullet alongside tens of other people on Friday, September 30th, a day that is already known as the bloody Friday of Zahedan.

All responsible for his death will be held accountable for their crime. We will not forget, we will not forgive.
