“You stay back ….

I’d give my life for your freedom.”

These are the last words that Rouzbeh posted on his Instagram account, a few days before he was shot dead in the city of Karaj. His heroic words and his tragic death will be remembered by all those who fight for freedom, no matter where they are. This is a screenshot of his Instagram post:

He was 32 years old when he was killed. He was a Kurd who lived in the city of Karaj, near the capital Tehran. He and his friends were in the demonstrations and ran away from the agents of the Islamic regime in Iran. They fled to his friend’s house, thinking they are safe. But the agents riding motorbikes broke the door, came inside the house, and shot him with four bullets from a very close range. He died there, living behind the incredible story of a true hero who was murdered by true monsters. There is a video of his mother crying on his grave, saying “my son gave his life for the freedom of this people, of this country”. Iranian people will never forget the memory of Rouzbeh and other heroes such as Rouzbeh, who gave their lives, in the pursuit of freedom and happiness.

All responsible for his death will be held accountable for their crime. We will not forget, we will not forgive.
