Armita Abbasi

is raped and still held captive by her rapists. She needs our help.

The Islamic Regime in Iran has used rape as a tool for suppression since its early days. There are many documented cases of systematic rape, and we will expand on that in near future. It seems during the new round of uprising, the 2022 Iran Revolution, the regime has brought this inhumanity to a whole new level. They have raped many young men and women. Armita Abbasi is one of those who have been raped by the regime agents.

She was arrested sometime in November and brought to a hospital by the agents on ~22n of November 2022. The doctors and nurses were shocked and appalled by what they saw, and in spite of the dangers of exposing such a crime, they informed the world about her case. A nurse said about her: “It was terrible! I could not insert a Urinary catheter. Her urinary ducts were messed up and the urine she has not been able to pass has bloated her abdomen. Her vagina had a huge tear.”

Armita has been very active on social media. A woman who loved to dye her hair in bright colours. Many photos of her, even in the streets, without the mandatory Hijab. All in all, the independent, beautiful and vibrant woman who is a thorn in the eyes of the regime. And they raped her with a vigour that only zealous fundamentalists are capable of.

Initially, the Islamic regime wanted to force the hospital staff to announce her rape happened before her arrest. When they did not agree to lie, they kidnapped Armita again, and at the time of writing these lines, Dec 2nd, 2022, it is 50 years that nobody, even her family, has any news of her. Her broken body is thrown into a cell, without medical attention. A cell guarded by those who brutally raped her.

CNN had an article recently about her and other victims of systematic rape by the Islamic regime that you can read here.

UPDATE 02.01.2023:

Armita Abbasi’s mother has released a statement on social media, informing the world that Armita is still in captivity and that she has gone on a hunger strike. The statement is addressed to the regime authorities in the Alborz province and is as follows:

“I came, you were not there …

I asked, you did not give a clear answer,

I chose a solicitor, you did not accept him,

I didn’t talk to any media, so you wouldn’t say you did not follow our rules,

but today, after 82 days, I decided to state my request here, maybe you’d hear it!

Today, my only child, Armita Abbasi, who according to what the agents of the intelligence ministry have said is imprisoned under false accusations, has declared that she goes on hunger strike to object to her situation; because you do not process her case and because of her ever lengthier captivity.

What those interrogators saw and how they wrote about it, I have left it to God to judge. But I now am addressing you, the authorities, who always assume somebody is guilty until proven innocent.

I, the mother of Armita Abbasi, demand that the case of my daughter be processed. This hunger strike by Armita and her fellow inmates is not in the interest of anybody.

I hope my message reaches you before it is too late.”
