Mohammad-Mehdi Karami

“Dad, they declared our sentences. It is EXECUTION. Don’t say anything to mom.”

These are the words of Mohammad-Mehdi, a 22-year-old Karate champion when he called home from prison.

Mohammad Mehdi was arrested for attending the memorial service of Hadis Najafi one of the protestors murdered by the Islamic regime. The Basij forces, the paramilitary arm of the IRGC, attacked the people, and one of the Basijis was killed in the skirmish. Now the regime has arrested five people, including Mohammad-Mehdi, tortured them and put them on show trials. Mohammad-Mehdi says so badly that the security forces thought he was dead. When they found out he is not, they kept beating him. in spite of all of that, he rejected the charges at the “court”. The regime has not allowed any of them to choose their own lawyers. They have assigned one of their agents as their “lawyer”, so there won’t be any surprises in their charade. AS Navid Afkari, a hero who was murdered by the regime, once said: “ they just seek necks for their nooses”. The regime has decided to use the killing of this Basiji to send a message to the Iranian people, for any one of us killed in our war, we will kill five of you.

Also, noteworthy, is that all five people sentenced to death were present at the memorial service of Hadis Najafi, and were later arrested by the regime agents in their homes. This shows the regime has been using face recognition software (quite possibly bought from the Chinese Communist Party) and then matching it with the database of photos of Iranian citizens they have stored in their databases, they linked each face to a name and then the address. These five people were possibly those that the face recognition algorithm could recognise in the crowd of thousands. A warning to Iranian revolutionaries and dissidents in other totalitarian regimes, to take precautions to cover their faces in demonstrations.

UPDATE on 07.01.2023:

Today The regime announced that they have executed Mohammad-Mehdi, alongside another brave citizen, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini. This was a murder in cold-blood and all those responsible for these crimes will be held accountable.
